Training & Trumpet

Written by William Reddaway on 28 April 2012.

The weather has not been great and tomorrow is forecast for worse wind and more rain so the agility training day with Sheila Reed has been postponed – I do have plenty of other things to do, and I will look at conditions in the morning and work out which way will take us out of the wind for a hack of an hour or two. Unless it is downright dangerous whichever way you go and it is genuinely a day off.

Its a pocket trumpetOn Monday I am giving a talk about the charities and the Ride at my old school and was wondering if I should take my trumpet and give them a brief blast of my playing. I am not sure. I have to warm up to get any sort of reasonable (by my very beginner standards) performance and there will not be an opportunity to do that AND I am still such a beginner that it is not very impressive even to the non-musical, and some of them will be serious musicians. I will take the trumpet and show them it (most will never have seen a pocket trumpet) and see how it feels on the moment. I am certain the trumpet will be a real attention and media catcher for the Ride and I had better be right on that. It is a huge amount of work to learn to play it and the last few weeks I have been doing less practice than I should. Can I get back to a minimum of 30 minutes a day and more than that on several days a week? If anyone wants to volunteer to be the person I tell exactly how much I have done each day, then let me know, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
